Not an excuse for the loss last year but there were a couple of missed field goals by GC that would have been good if kicked through a HS goal post. So that is one difference. There is a reason those dimensions are made. The hashmarks play havoc on defenses when up against a team with some speedy backs. That is one reason Norton likes to play there. It really benefits them. I just cant see why anyone would want to bend the rules in the least bit no matter how interesting it makes things. Rules and regulations are there for a reason. Since this is the last year there I really hope one of the teams that has supported the UVA Wise mess loses there this year due to a missed field goal that would be good on a HS field.
And Biggin yes those two teams do play on the same field with the same college deminsions. BUT NO OTHER SINGLE A GAME IN THE STATE IS PLAYED ON SUCH A FIELD FOR A MEASLY STATE QUARTER FINAL GAME. How fair is it to the two teams playing there if they miss a game winning field goal when for example Gretna was to beat a team they play in the quarters by a field goal that would be no good on a college field? Like I said before there is a huge reason why the dimensions are different on a HS field than a college field. I feel if you are going to go by the rules then do so 100% Dont half ass it.
And for whoever said GC kids like playing there that is BS. I could see that point if UVA Wise was actually worth a **** in football.
I dont even know why the hell we are arguing this. It does not matter now. This is the last year it will be allowed thank God! This is my last post on this matter. Wise County can have their last so called championship game this year. Things next year is something I have wanted to see even before the UVA Wise mess. Will be some great matchups. Just wish it started this year.
